Roman Hájek is the EJO web editor in Czech Republic. He is a PhD student of media studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. His main focus area is local political communication, but he is also interested in alternative media, issues of citizenship, transformation of journalism and other related issues. He has worked as a local journalist for several years. Since 2012 he has been leading a small civic organization to promote his native city Kladno.Sandra Štefaniková is an EJO’s Czech web editor and a PhD candidate of media studies at Charles University in Prague. Sandra is a member of the European Communication and Research Association (ECREA). Currently, she is working on her doctorate thesis dealing with the relationship between media, culture, and political authorities in the non-democratic political systems. At the same time, she is working on research concerning the transformation of Czech photojournalism in the last twenty years. In edition to her academic career she has been working as a journalist for Czech online daily Aktualne.cz since 2011.
