DIG Awards, a festival and competition devoted to showcasing the best international investigative journalism in video format, is offering the public “The Lockdown Tapes” – a playlist of documentaries that have been aired at recent festivals and which can now be viewed for free online.

The playlist consists of a dozen films that have been shown at DIG festivals between 2015 and 2019. Several of them have won prizes.

It offers viewers the chance to see for free, for a limited period (until 3 May), twelve of the best documentaries shown at previous DIG festivals.

Wide range of topics

The films have been produced by major international media outlets such as The Guardian, Deutsche Welle, RAI, Al Jazeera and The Correspondent, and deal with a wide range of important contemporary issues, from frozen conflicts to migration, from the environment to civil rights.

A DIG initiative designed for these weeks of lockdown, the project aims to provide “brilliant journalism for dark times”.

This year’s DIG festival was due to be held in June but has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It will now be held in October in Modena. Information about the rescheduled 2020 festival and details of how to apply for one of the categories of award can be found here.
