Evgeniya Boklage is a Ph.D. candidate at the Free University of Berlin currently studying Russian LGBT community and their use of social media for the purposes of self-representation and mobilization of social action. She has been teaching Master’s-level courses at the Free University of Berlin and University of Helsinki and has published on blogging and media activism.Rukhshona Nazhmidinova received Master’s degrees in Media Management and Public Relations from the Kazakh Institute of Management, Economics and Prognosis in 2006 and in Marketing from the Università della Svizzera italiana, 2011. Her journalism experience includes working with as the Associated Press correspondent in Tajikistan (2003-2004) and assistant to the editor at the Central Asian Bureau of Agence France-Presse (2004-2006). Currently, she is working on her PhD dissertation at the Università della Svizzera Italiana. Her research interests include communication strategies via new media.
