Meet Encyclo – the grandaddy of media journalism resources.

Offering users a textured grip on media news – what’s happening, what’s changing, what’s worse, what’s better, what needs to be fixed and why – a new resource created by Harvard’s Nieman Journalism Lab places the need for context at the forefront. Encyclo, described by Nieman as an “encyclopedia of the future of news,” is a microsite divided into topic pages which provide (as one might guess) an encyclopedic synopsis of the subject in question. As related issues emerge, affecting various topics, the entries are updated to reflect shifts in developments.   

A number of innovative tools are incorporated into topic pages in order to deepen access to the topic, drawing on different facets of its relevance. Key links to news articles and commentaries appear, in addition to links to applicable websites and Twitter accounts. A list of peers, rivals and competitors is offered as well as the five most recent Nieman articles on the subject and the five most recent Mediagazer articles.
