Dr. Johann Roppen
Prof. Dr. Johann Roppen, born in 1967, has been a professor of journalism by Volda University College since 2011.
Previously he has worked as a journalist, media researcher and in a governmental media authority. From 2015-2023 he was rector of the Volda University College.
In 2003 he earned his doctoral degree by the University of Bergen. In his research Roppen has worked within a wide scope of topics such as media concentration and journalism, media and democracy, public service broadcasting and new media and on the history of journalism education.
Roppen has been part of governmental media commissions in Norway and Denmark regarding media support and public service broadcasting. He has been member of the management committee of COST action networks regarding polarization of media and language plurality.
