A Complicated, Antagonistic & Symbiotic Affair: Journalism, Public Relations and the Struggle for Public Attention
This book provides a wide array of perspectives dealing with the relationship between journalism and PR. It is organised into five sections: the first opens up the debate between media practitioners; the second is dedicated to academic discussion; the third section focuses on political communication, and in the fourth the case of business communication and corporate governance is explored. The fifth section of the volume is devoted to the professional training of journalists and PR experts.
The book documents the conference “A Complicated, Antagonistic & Symbiotic Affair: Journalism, Public Relations and their Struggle for Public Attention” which took place at Lucerne in Spring 2006 as a joint venture of MAZ. Die Schweizer Journalistenschule and the European Journalism Observatory of the Università della Svizzera italiana (University of Lugano). The conference brought together American and European researchers, journalists and PR experts to analyze the interaction between journalism and PR thoroughly and to discuss the most recent research results with experienced practitioners.
